Technology - overview

AquaBioChip, LLC has developed novel genotyic based assays for high-throughput microarray and PCR-chip technologies, allowing multiple sample and targets to be tested in high throughput. We have also developed system specific software enabling positive/negative identification with automated data analysis.

Our technology utilizes the 5-10 copy sensitivity of PCR along with the high throughput identification advantages of microarray. High specificity, accuracy, and rosbustness is obtained by targeting multiple virulence/toxin and marker genes (VMGs) simultaneously. Learn more about advantages of VMGs.

Every positive call for the presence of a pathogen is made only if multiple VMGs (3 to 5 target virulence and marker genes) are known to be present as indicated by 10 to 20 probes for each gene (see Data Example). For enhanced reliability, we routinely pool the primers for virulence genes associated with the same organism into separate batches. In this way, if one PCR reaction fails, it can be compensated by 2 to 3 other batches targeting other virulence or marker genes.

Simultaneous testing also simplifies the process of pathogen idendification by making it safer, faster, and more cost effective.
