Dr. Hashsham is an environmental engineer at Michigan State University. He has more than 10 years of experience in molecular biology, environmental sample analysis, environmental genomics, and development of applications. Dr. Hashsham has been the lead investigator on 5 separate grants (funded by the NIH, EPA, and DOD), related to DNA biochip development for identification of bacteria, protozoa, and viruses in environmental samples. He has also focused on developing gene sequence databases for selected applications, e.g., Virulence Factors Activity Relationships (VFAR) database, Antibiotic Resistance genes (AR), and virulence/toxin marker gene (VMGs) databases.
